Tomorrow I am headed to Capital City (Nashville) for the photo swap meet. Hopefully, I will also be picking up a complete darkroom setup so that I can begin cranking out photos at home instead of having to haul everything to the University for printing. I have also acquired some fun new chemistry and paper (lith printing) and will be cranking out real art soon.
Photos will become available as soon as I can get them printed :)
Take a close look at this photo of Bob Dylan. Seems normal.. right?
The amazing answer is yes, it is a normal photograph taken in 1978. The amazing part is that it was developed just a few weeks ago. The film had been sitting at room temperature in the photographer’s house. It was found while he was preparing to move.
When the film was developed, there was very little to no degradation of the image, amazing considering it is 31 years old.
Let’s see digital match that.

The 2nd Annual Immaculate Conception Photo Contest has been scheduled for January 16, 2010. I have been asked again to be the juror for the contest, and am really looking forward to it. Last year, we gave out scholarships to Memphis College of Art and sent three students off to begin their artistic careers!
For those of you who might want to come see some fantastic student work, the show will be held in Marion Hall at the Immaculate Conception Cathedral. Good stuff!
Shelby Farms Lake —
Shelby Farms is the former penal farm in East Memphis. Now it is the largest urban park in the country. This is a view of one of the many lakes in the park. I particularly love this shot because the foreground reminds me of an alien landscape.
